1. Bogalusa's Birthplace Marker
Inscription. City was born here in 1906 just west of here on Bogue Lusa Creek bank when tents were set for 1st campsite of Great Southern Lumber Co. Portable sawmill was erected to cut lumber to build town and what became world's largest sawmill.
 
Erected 1982 by Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.
 
Location. 30° 46.961′ N, 89° 51.908′ W. Marker is in Bogalusa, Louisiana, in Washington Parish. Marker is at the intersection of Cumberland Street (State Highway 60) and Willis Avenue, on the right when traveling south on Cumberland Street. Touch for map.
