Inscription. Lumber and tung-oil center. Named for N.O. newspaper edited by former local resident, Eliza Jane Nicholson, famed as poet (Pearl Rivers) and pioneer in opening of journalism to women.
 
Erected 1952 by Mississippi Historical Commission.
