Click to hear the inscription.  Born in Genoa, Italy, in 1451; Died May 20, 1506, at the age of 55, in Valladolid, Spain; Sailed to the New World under the coat of arms of Castile and Aragon; Landed October 12, 1492 at the isle of San Salvador in the West Indies; Made three additional voyages to the Western Hemisphere in 1493, 1498, and 1502; Now a legendary figure among the world’s immortals.
 
Erected 1973 by Sons of Italy in America.
