1. The Court House Bell Marker
Inscription. From 1861 to 1929, from the cupola of the old Dauphin County Court House, this bell rang out its message to the people of Harrisburg.

More about this marker. Marker is a large metal plaque, mounted knee-high on the brick pedestal which supports the bell. The pedestal, marker and bell are within a small gazebo on the north side of the John Harris Mansion.

The first courthouse was removed in 1860 and the second was built in its location. The second building was removed in 1948. The current courthouse was designed in 1940 by the Harrisburg architectural firm Lawrie and Green. It was completed in 1942.
