1. Hendrick Van Allen House Marker
Inscription. This Dutch Colonial house was built by Hendrick Van Allen before the Revolutionary War on a farm that consisted of over two-hundred acres. General George Washington used this house as his Headquarters on July 14-15, 1777, when he moved his troops over “extremely deep and miry roads” from Morristown, New Jersey to Smith’s Clove, New York.
