Organized December 2, 1848, Rehoboth Baptist Church, Mount Lebanon, by 13 men, including first president James Scarborough. "The objects…shall be Missionary and Educational; to promote harmony and feeling and concert of action…such measures as may best promote the interests of the Redeemer's Kingdom in our own State, and the regions beyond us."
