The North West Tower
— The Ruins of Lady Godiva's Cathedral —
To the left are the arches that lead into the north west tower, constructed in the early 13th century. This is the only ‘room’ surviving from the cathedral. It may have contained a chapel reached via a pointed arch from the north aisle. The two bases of this arch can be seen with their impressive vertical shafts.
The new floor has been deliberately laid in order to reveal the chamfered plinth (angled skirting) at the base of the wall. In the corner is the spiral staircase that ran up the tower.
