Regarding Pulquería "La Risa". A "pulquería" is a type of bar or cantina that sells pulque, the fermented liquid of the maguey, a plant in the agave family. This is one of the ancestral indigenous alcoholic drinks of prehispanic Mesoamerica. Pulquerías have a long history in Mexico City and "La Risa" was one of the oldest. Although it has closed recently due to legal issues, it is hoped that one day soon it will open again. This pulquería and many others were marked with this official marker as part of a program to note the most historic pulquerías.
