Work on Boldt Castle began in 1900 and continued until the untimely death of Mrs. Boldt in 1904. Bereaved, Boldt ordered all work to stop.

The unfinished structure lay prey to the elements until 1978, when the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority assumed ownership and initiated a program of stabilization and future restoration.

Boldt Castle typifies an era long past, and the Bridge Authority with all the net revenues from this operation will preserve it, as well as other structures for the enjoyment of future generations.
