Inscription.  Big Elk Methodist Episcopal Church, known as the Big Elk Chapel, is located at Flounders Corner on a parcel of land originally part of the New Munster Tract. In 1877 the Rev. John France of Cherry Hill Methodist Episcopal Church held a great revival here in a tent. As a result the society was organized and the church built the same year. The horse shed was built in 1902. In 1964 the Big Elk Chapel merged with Cherry Hill United Methodist Church.
