1. The Malott Building Marker
Inscription. Volney T. Malott, a prosperous nineteenth-century businessman, constructed the Malott Building as an investment property in 1896 to house a variety of wholesale businesses. The south half of the Romanesque Revival-style building with its imposing rugged Indiana limestone piers was demolished sometime between 1956 and 1969. The north half was demolished in 1990 but its facade was dismantled, moved 50 feet south of its original site at 118 South Meridian Street, reconstructed and integrated into Circle Centre.
