1. Midway Marker
Inscription.  First Kentucky town established by a railroad. In 1831, Lexington and Ohio Railroad Co. began railroad between Lexington and Frankfort. First train reached midway point, 1833. L&O bought John Francisco farm in 1835. R. C. Hewitt, a civil engineer for railroad, laid out the town. Many streets named for L&O officials. Midway incorporated, 1846, by Ky. legislature.
 
Erected 1976 by Kentucky Historical Society, Kentucky Department of Highways. (Marker Number 1580.)

Location. 38° 9.04′ N, 84° 41.02′ W. Marker is in Midway, Kentucky, in Woodford County. Marker is on East Main Street east of North Winter Street (U.S. 62), on the right when traveling east.
