Inscription.
The land for the Library was donated by the Winthrop Mills Company and it was designed by the Hon. Harry H. Cochrane. Construction started in 1926 under the direction of Victor King of North Monmouth. Dedication exercises for the New Library were held on July 17th, 1926.

In Nov. of 2014, The Library directors decided to turn the library over to the Monmouth Museum, with the intent to use the former library to sell some of its publications, store some of its written assets and to make it a Research Center for the community.

Also see . . .  North Monmouth Library placed on National Register of Historic Places. For 87 years, the North Monmouth Library operated on Main Street — a bright yellow box of a building that drew in children like Shelia Sanford with its promise of newspapers and comics. “When I was a little girl, I used to go to the library, it was a central place in those days. Everybody went to the library.” (Submitted on July 24, 2019, by Cosmos Mariner of Cape Canaveral, Florida.)
