Inscription.  Octagonal house built about 1850 by Linus Yale, inventor of the Yale Lock
 
Erected 1932 by State Education Department.
 
Location. 43° 11.463′ N, 75° 1.101′ W. Marker is in Newport, New York, in Herkimer County. Marker is on Main Street (New York State Route 28) near North Street, on the right when traveling north.
