1. James K. McGuire Marker
Inscription.  James K. McGuire was elected Mayor of Syracuse at 26 years old in 1895. Known as the "Boy Mayor," he was reelected two times. The McGuire family emigrated from County Fermanagh, and Irish nationalism dominated his life. As President of Clan-na-Gael, he brought his friend Eamon de Valera to Syracuse in 1919 to raise money by selling bonds to support the new Irish Republic.
 
Location. 43° 2.979′ N, 76° 8.951′ W. Marker is in Syracuse, New York, in Onondaga County. Marker is on East Washington Street just east of Montgomery Street, on the right when traveling west. Marker is mounted at eye-level on a sidewalk light pole near the southwest corner of Syracuse City Hall. Touch for map. 1. James Kennedy McGuire (Wikipedia). James Kennedy McGuire was the Mayor of Syracuse, New York from 1895 to 1902. He was a member of Tammany Hall. In 1902 he was Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Democratic State Committee. When indicted in 1913 he fled to Puerto Rico.
