1. Newton Academy Marker - Facing North West
Inscription. Established before 1793 as Union Hill Academy. Named for George Newton. Later site of a public school. Building stood 200 feet east.
 
Erected 1992 by Division of Archives and History. (Marker Number P 18.)
 
Location. 35° 34.567′ N, 82° 32.817′ W. Marker is in Asheville, North Carolina, in Buncombe County. Marker is on Biltmore Avenue near Doctors Drive, on the right when traveling north. Touch for map. Marker is in this post office area: Asheville NC 28803, United States of America.
