Inscription. Founded 1796 by Rev. John Barnet Matthias, itinerant preacher. Church first incorporated in 1807. This building erected 1837.

The marker is under the tree, perpendicular to the photographer. I’m sure the snarl of telephone and electric wires did not mar the view when the church was first constructed.
