2. The Hump Marker - Wide View
The marker is visible here on the middle front of the Rio Vista Junction depot building. Rio Vista Junction served as a transfer station for passengers between buses traveling Highway 12 and the Sacramento Northern Railway. Passenger rail service ended here in 1940.
The marker is on the front of the Rio Vista Junction building on the grounds of the Western Railway Museum. Upon entry of the the Museum grounds from the highway, rather than going straight into the parking lot, make an immediate right turn and drive through the gate roughly 1/10 mile to the building. The gate may not be open when the museum is closed.
