1. New London Academy Marker
Inscription. Chartered by the state in 1795, this is the oldest secondary school in Virginia in continuous operation under its own charter. Conducted for many years as a private school for boys, it began to receive public funds in 1884. It now operates as a public school.
 
Erected 1959 by Virginia State Library. (Marker Number K-141.)
