1. Monongahela College Marker
Inscription. This was first Baptist college in western Pennsylvania. It was begun by Ten Mile Baptist Association in 1867, opened in 1869, and in 1871 chartered by legislature. Operated 1869-1888; reopened 1890 and finally closed 1894. College building, erected 1871, lies 300 yards north of marker.
 
Erected 1960 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 39° 55.826′ N, 80° 3.584′ W. Marker is in Jefferson, Pennsylvania, in Greene County. Marker is at the intersection of Jefferson Road (Pennsylvania Route 188) and Pine Street, on the right when traveling west on Jefferson Road. Touch for map. Located at the US Post Office.
