Inscription.
Erected by the Rotary Club of Durham as its first community gift in November, 1916. Originally located in Rotary Park in downtown Durham;
Relocated to Bennet Place
Memorial Park in1924. Refurbished and rededicated by the Rotary Club of Durham on October 8, 1990 on its 75th anniversary.

The bandstand is located at Bennett Place State Historic Site. The Bennet House can be seen in the background. It is used for various concerts and ceremonies held there.
