Inscription.
First Church, School and Cemetery. . Presbyterians formed the first church in Greenwood on Dec. 31, 1825, and erected the first church building in Johnson County on or near this site in early 1826. The meeting house and surrounding cemetery occupied two acres of land that were donated by Garrett Brewer, a ruling elder, and the Rev. Isaac Reed, organizer of the church. The 20 x 16 ft. log cabin served as a church and a school until 1832 when a 50 x 40 ft. frame building replaced it. The Presbyterians moved into a new building at Main and Brewer Streets in 1853. The remains of those buried in the cemetery were moved to the Greenwood Cemetery.

Location. 39° 37.232′ N, 86° 6.712′ W. Marker is in Greenwood, Indiana, in Johnson County. Marker is on North Madison Avenue north of Noble Street, on the right when traveling north. There is no parking on Madison Avenue. Go on Noble Street - enter the apartment complex - turn into first drive to the left - park at your own risk. When grass is wet or has snow on it, you will not be able to walk over the hill to the marker. Only can be viewed on a clear dry day. Touch for map.
