1. Malcolm Cowley Marker
Inscription. Born here in 1898, Cowley became an influential literary critic, editor, poet, and historian after World War I. He chronicles the "Lost Generation" in Exile's Return, his most famous work. Blue Juniata, a book of verse, celebrates this region. He was Chancellor of the American Academy of Arts & Letters, 1966-1976. He died in Sherman, Conn. in 1989.
 
Erected 1994 by Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.
 
Location. 40° 31.543′ N, 78° 53.181′ W. Marker is near Belsano, Pennsylvania, in Cambria County. Marker is on Benjamin Franklin Highway (U.S. 422) 0.9 miles west of Duman (Pennsylvania Route 271), on the right when traveling west. Touch for map.
