Inscription. Founded in Philadelphia in 1917, the AFSC has given practical expression to the faith of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). Its worldwide humanitarian work has reflected a commitment to nonviolence & justice. Co-recipient, Nobel Peace Prize, 1947.
