Regarding Goodspeed Opera House. The Opera House was built by local merchant William Goodspeed in 1877. Goodspeed Musicals acquired the building in 1959 after it was condemned by the state. The theater is actually located in the two top floors. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 30, 1971
