1. Flag of the State of Louisiana Marker
Inscription. The first usage of the Pelican Flag as emblematic of Louisiana in unknown, but references to flags with a pelican design were made long before the Civil War. The flag was officially adopted by the State Legislature July 1, 1912. On the flag appears Louisiana's motto: Union, Justice, Confidence.
 
Location. 30° 26.729′ N, 91° 11.315′ W. Marker is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in East Baton Rouge Parish. Marker can be reached from St. Louis Street 0.1 miles from North Boulevard, on the right when traveling south. Touch for map.
