Regarding Judge Wood House. Back in the early 1800s in rural America there were limited options available to learn a trade or profession, except under the tutelage of an existing professional. Millard Fillmore was a young man from this area who was born into and grew up in poverty but had a passion for learning. He studied law under Judge Wood at this house, went on to be a successful lawyer and politician in Buffalo, NY, was elected to the NY State Assembly in 1828 and eventually became the 13th President of the U.S.
