Son of
John and Rebecca Montanye Bird
Born Dec. 20, 1785

Served with great distinction in the Battle of Lake Erie. For leaving his command later to join army at New Orleans, was condemned, shot and buried at Erie, Nov. 10, 1814, but his countrymen in song and story have honored him as a hero and martyr.

Reinterred here Nov. 10, 1935 by Wyoming Historical and Geological Society, and the Luzerne County Chapter, Daughters of 1812.
