Regarding Conrado de la Cruz and Herlindo Cifuentes Castillo.
Father Conrado was born in Baguio, Philippines, on July 27, 1946. He entered the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1965. He made his first vows on June 29, 1966 and was ordained as a priest on December 28, 1971. On August 15, 1972, he received his missionary nomination and on December 13 of the same year he arrived in Guatemala. He worked in the parishes of San Cristóbal, Diocese of Las Verapaces, and the port of San José, Escuintla.
In February 1979 he was appointed as parish priest of Tiquisate where he dedicated himself especially to pastoral work with poor and humble people from the farms and villages.
For preaching truth and justice he was sequestered on May 1, 1980 at the corner of 8th Avenue and 6th Street of Zone 1 (a few steps from the National Palace and the Archiepiscopal Curia). According to witnesses, the kidnappers were six men, armed, who took him along with his collaborator and friend, Herlindo Cifuentes, in a gray Toyota jeep. Since that date, nothing has been known about them. Translated from the CICM website at https://cicmjpic.org/martires/
