In this house from 1888, chaired by the initiator of Austrian social policy, Karl Freiherr von Vogelsang (1818 - 1890), the famous 'duck evenings' took place. These were the germ cells of the Christian socialist movement and the Christian Social Party of Austria.

Also the great social encyclical "Rerum Novarum" of Pope Leo XIII received essential suggestions from here.

2. Entenabende (Duck Evenings) (Wien Geschichte Wiki, in German). "'Duck evenings' were discussion meetings and training courses organized by the Christian Socialists at the suggestion of Karl von Vogelsang in the restaurant of the hotel 'At the Golden Duck' (1889-1899). Vogelsang assembled here representatives of the lower clergy, the bourgeois democrats, the high aristocracy and the peasants and Christian union officials to discuss these concrete measures of Christian social reform, from which came the important ideas of the first major labor encyclical, 'Rerum novarum', issued in 1890 by Pope Leo XIII."
