Inscription.
On shield on cannon:
Colonel Everett Peabody, 25th Mo.,
Commanding 1st Brigade,
6th Division,
Army of the Tennessee.
Was killed here at 9 A.M.,
April 6, 1862.

On star:
U. S. Headquarters, 1st Brigade 6th Division Army of the Tennessee. Col. Everett Peabody, 25th Mo. Commanding Established March 25th, 1862.
 
Erected 1988 by Shiloh National Military Park Commission.

3. Peabody Mortuary Monument Marker
The monument's 18' 7" sq. base has four small corner bases with pyramids of 8" shells. A 30 lb. Parrott tube is mounted vertically in the center, with an inscribed bronze plaque, and capped with a 12 lb. shell.
