1. Courthouse Steps Marker
Inscription. Built in 1903 to provide direct access for pedestrians between downtown and the newly constructed courthouse, the steps, actually part of Cumberland Street, span nearly 200 feet and provide a breathtaking view of the town below.

4. Breathtaking View?
The view is somewhat diminished by broken tree limbs in the wake of a winter ice storm. At the turn of the last century, Hickman was a thriving river port with much activity on the waterfront downtown. In the distance is an old chute of the Mississippi River.
