Inscription. Legend has it that the Indians and Tories of Joseph Brant set this stone to honor their dead and wounded who fell before the field of fire from the nearby plateau.

No evidence has been found to support the legend of Brant used this rock to mark where his dead were buried. The boulder may have been upended by a glacier, or possibly it was moved in this position by trees such as the one in the photo.
