Inscription. James Veitch, born 1628 in Roxburghshire, Scotland. Settled at Veitch’s Cove, later known as Veitch’s Rest, an original land patent granted by Lord Baltimore in 1649. Sheriff of Calvert County 1653–1657. Died 1685.
