1. Union Headquarters Marker
Inscription. Maj. Gen. A. S. Williams, commanding the XX Corps, established his headquarters here on March 19. In the woods to the north, the XX Corps erected breastworks which remain.
 
Erected 1959 by Archives and Highway Commission. (Marker Number HHH-4.)

These fortifications, built by members of the 1st Regiment Michigan Engineers and Mechanics on detached service with the XX Corps, are located northeast of the marker.
