Inscription.  Confederate earth fort mounting nine guns. Bombarded by Federal fleet February 7, 1862. Earthworks 2 ½ mi. W.
Erected 1961 by Archives and Highway Departments, Confederate Centennial Commission. (Marker Number BBB 2.)
Location. 35° 54.354′ N, 75° 40.446′ W. Marker is in Manteo, North Carolina, in Dare County. Marker is at the intersection of North Virginia Dare Avenue (U.S. 64/264) and Agona Street, on the right when traveling west on North Virginia Dare Avenue. Touch for map.
