2. The Zabriskie House Marker
Located at Historic New Bridge Landing, the Zabriskie House is also called the Steuben House. The marker is seen here on the house, to the left of the doorway.

3. The Zabriskie House
This house was confiscated from John J. Zabriskie during the Revolutionary, and later presented to Major-General Baron von Steuben, Inspector-General of the Continental Army by the State of New Jersey.

4. The Zabriskie House
During their retreat across New Jersey, Gen. George Washington and the Continental Army used the bridge located here (at right) to cross the Hackensack River and marched past this house. They later burned the wooden bridge to slow the British pursuit.

7. Washington's Room in the Zabriskie House
George Washington stayed in this room in 1780 when the Zabriskie House served as his headquarters. The black leather chair was used by Gen. Lafayette during his stay in Hackensack.
