More about this memorial. The monument was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 31, 1926 for the scores of Civil War veterans who were buried in Greenwood Cemetery. The cost of the $5,000 monument was funded by Civil War veterans, the Women's Relief Corps, the Service Star Legion (War Mothers), and other local citizens. The monument is 26 feet tall and is made of Vermont marble. The tablets with the names of the veterans is Red Ozark Mountain marble.
