Inscription.

This drinking fountain was erected in memory of Harold "Pat" White Jr., U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and longtime Chillicothe businessperson. For over 30 years Pat was an enthusiastic participant and promoter of physical fitness, especially running and biking. Pat encouraged many friends and acquaintances to take up physical fitness. He was an excellent role model for the [sic] led by example. Pat could be seen at any given time running or riding his bike throughout the Scioto Valley.

As a runner, he participated in the Boston Marathon and ran in many parts of the world, including China and New Zealand. As a bicyclist, he rode thousands of miles in this country, Europe, and Australia. In 1996, he realized his big dream by cycling across the United States with his grandson, Patrick Lair and a friend Jimmy Robertson. Pat always wanted to be remembered as runner and bicyclist and as such will be remembered by his family and many friends.
