This Division formed the rear of Hood's column and advanced with it from the forest east of the Brotherton House at 11:15 a.m. Soon after entering the Dyer Fields it passed over Hood's Division which had been checked by a charge of Harker's Brigade forced Harker's Brigade to Snodgrass Hill and at 1 p.m. unsuccessfully assaulted the Hill where Harker and others had formed their commands. Several assaults of the most persistent character were made by the Division during the afternoon but without carrying the Union line. Fighting ceased on the front of the Division at sunset the last assault being participated in by Gracie's Brigade of Preston's Division.

More about this marker. I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
