Additional commentary.
1. Duck Memorial
The memorial was erected semi-tongue in cheek around March or April 2004 after a command decision was made to fill in the Duck Pond and to relocate 11 ducks and 1 goose to other areas of Victory Base as the base grew more populated with a surge of new personnel. The filling of the pond and the relocation of the ducks caused a somewhat humorous uproar, since it was one of our sole entertainments, and those who used the DFAC (Dining FACility) had adopted these critters as a group. The ad hoc movement to stop the pond fill and duck relocation failed, and the memorial was erected to commemorate the effort. Several months later, the memorial being demolished as new construction began for a larger replacement DFAC, and I saved the sign, which now hangs in my garage in Little Rock.
