Regarding The German School of Guatemala. A large number of German immigrants moved to Guatemala beginning in the 1880s, most working in industries associated with the new coffee plantations. The German School in Quetzaltenango, as well as those in Guatemala City and Cobán, were closed in 1941 due to U.S. pressure at the beginning of World War II.
