1. Placer County Museum Marker
Inscription. Built originally as mining exhibit hall on the 20th Agricultural District Fairgrounds, this building was constructed in the 1940s by the W.P.A. Crew from nearby Camp Flint. Placer County Historical Society secured use of a portion of the building for a museum which opened in January 24, 1948 and then expanded in 1951. Placer County took over museum operations in 1948, hiring May Perry as curator. The name was later changed to The Gold Country Museum.

"The Gold Rush Museum inside the Gold Country Fairgrounds has closed permanently. The new Museum is under construction in the Historic Auburn Depot at 601 Lincoln Way and the first floor is open Friday through Sunday from 10:30 to 4:00."
