1. The Maddox Family and Time Printers Marker

Inscription. Under the leadership of Booker T. Washington, Gabriel B. Mattox, Sr., set up the first print shop at Tuskagee Institute in Alabama. In 1907, Maddox migrated to Baltimore, where he opened a print shop on Druid Hill Avenue in West Baltimore. In 1954, Gabriel’s sons, Frank and Albert, opened Time Printers on Fulton Avenue. The family-owned business moved to Warwick Avenue in 1986, where they have continued to serve West Baltimore residents through times of celebration and mourning.
