English translation:
The First Oil Well
On September 21, 1901, at Evangeline, 5 miles northeast, well No. 1 Jules Clement of the "Jennings Oil" company was completed by W. Scott Heywood and his associates. Thus began the important Louisiana oil and gas industry.
