Regarding The Tingle Tavern. “The county was organized is a small tavern named the Tingle Tavern on April 32, 1810. This building at Lot 9 Wheeling Avenue provided a meeting place for the three judges appointed to establish the county. ... Tingle Tavern was also the location for the first court cases of Guernsey County. A courthouse was begun shortly after the county was founded, but until it was usable in 1813, cases were tried in Tingle Tavern.” —from Images of America: Cambridge edited by William Kerrigan.
