1. Tyler Carnegie Library Marker
Inscription. It served as the City's library for 75 years, until a new one was opened in 1979. It was financed by a $15,000 gift from Andrew Carnegie and by citizens who raised $2,000 to buy the land.

Regarding Tyler Carnegie Library. When the City of Tyler built a new public library, the Carnegie building was leased to the Smith County Historical Society and operates as a museum under the name 'The Carnegie History Center.' It also houses the offices of the Historical Society.
