Gustav II Adolf, also, King Gustaf II Adolf. . Statyn, som föreställer Gustav II Adolf (1594-1632, kung från 1611), är Sveriges första ryttarstaty och har en lång och besvärlig tillkomsthistoria. Riksens ständer (dåtidens riksdag) beställde den redan 1757 av den inflyttade skulptören Pierre Hubert L'Archevéque (1721-78). Hans första förslag underkändes emellertid av beställaren och ett nytt fick utarbetas., Den komplicerade bronsgjutningen, som utfördes först 1779 hos styckgjutaren Gerhard Meyer, misslyckades och ciselören Charles Adams arbetade länge med bättrings-arbeten innan statyn kom på plats 1791.
