Opdrachtgever: Portugees Israëlietisch Gemeente
Bouwjaren: 1915, 1916

Years of Construction: 1915, 1916
The plaque above the entrance to this former hospital represents a pelican feeding its young with its own blood; the memorial symbol of the Portuguese Israelite Community. The hospital dating back to 1916 could accommodate 50 patients and also had a small ward for elderly women. The nurses' residence was located at no. 12. Numerous forced sterilisations took place at this hospital during the war. The Jewish home for the elderly, Beth Sjalom, was established here in 1951. The building currently serves as a housing unit for young people.
