McNair's Brigade - Brigadier General Evander McNair.
Early on the 19th Johnson's Division formed line of battle facing west, Johnson's Brigade on the right of the line, Gregg's on the left, and McNair's in reserve. At 2 p.m., this line was attacked by the advance of Davis' Division (Heg's and Carlin's Brigades) from south of Viniard's, with Barnes' Brigade on the right of Davis' and Wilder's Brigades of mounted infantry to his left. After severe fighting for an hour and a half, Johnson's Division having gained to its left and front, was replaced in front of Viniard's by Robertson's and Benning's Brigades of Hood's Division, while Johnson's forces became engaged towards Brotherton's on the left of Stewart's Division.

In locating this tablet I used the "Chickamauga Battlefield" map, that I purchased at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, Visitor Center, to determine both the marker number for this tablet and the tablet's location in relation to the rest of the park's monuments, markers, and tablets. According to the map it provides the, "numerical listing of all monuments, markers, and tablets on the Chickamauga Battlefield (using the Chick-Chatt NMP Monument Numbering System).”
